Raised Pinay: The 4th Generation

I joined the Raised Pinay sisterhood in February 2020, a collective of Filipinx-Americans in NYC rising toward decolonization. We told our stories of survival and Pinayhood that have formed our identities in solidarity with Black Lives Matter in June 2020 through an online virtual screening, benefitting Roots of Health and BYP100.

Raised Pinay originated in 2016 and has been presented as a benefit showcase in celebration of the Pinay narrative. Our mission is to elevate the Pinay voice through self-written monologues, poetry, visual art, song, and movement and to unite our community through storytelling of our shared experiences.

Mental Health Coalition: How are you, really? Challenge

I was invited to participate in the Mental Health Coalition’s launch of the How Are You, Really? Challenge in May 2020, featuring a collective of the most influential and respected nonprofits, businesses, and experts coming together to destigmatize mental health during a time of uncertainty due to COVID-19.

I, along with a roster of high profile personalities and working professionals, took a stand with the @mentalhealthcln by participating in the #HowAreYouReallyChallenge with the goal of ending the stigma against mental health and empowering individuals, like myself, living with mental health conditions.
